Postal Delay – "I Am Without Companion"

As this postcard was probably sent in an envelope, there are no clues as to where the recipient, Miss Stephenson, was residing.  Miss Stephenson’s friend, Catherine Balchin, writes formally:

“Beautiful Sunday
24 Nov 1907

Thank you my dear Miss Stephenson for kind letter received 12 Nov.  Will try and answer it next mail at present I am without companion so I am kept very busy.  Trusting you have quite recovered and will have A Very Happy New Year I remain Your Sincere Friend

Catherine Balchin

Two days later, Catherine Balchin added “26 Nov 1907 Kindest Love CB” on the other side of the postcard which bears a picture of Trinity Street and Church, Colchester.

I couldn’t help but wonder whether this postcard might have been posted on 24th November 1907 if Catherine Balchin had had a companion!
