Anybody who fears having their photograph taken, or is convinced that they don’t photograph well, might do well to consider the advice given by W V Amey, erstwhile Photographic Artist of 253 Commercial Road, Landport, on the reverse of his Cartes de Visite:
“Persons who Imagine or who have been told they do not take well are particularly invited to give Mr Amey a sitting as he finds in every case without exception it is an entire mistake.”
On the other hand, since it appears that this written assurance was made available only after the photograph was taken, one cannot help but wonder whether some of his clients might have preferred this side of the photograph.
